According to their properties, they can be divided into four categories: (1) chemical corrosion-resistant tantalum wire; (2) high-temperature and high-strength wire; (3) oxygen-resistant brittle wire; (4) capacitor wire.

Tantalum wiresare the most used in the electronics industry, mainly used for the anode lead of tantalum electrolytic capacitors. Tantalum foil capacitors can also be fabricated with high oxygen resistance and brittle tantalum wires. They can operate at high 772 temperature (100 C) and ultra high flash voltage (350V) in potassium dichromate and sulfuric acid energizing solutions. In addition, tantalum wires can also be used as vacuum electron cathode emission sources, ion sputtering and spraying materials.
