1) Pure tungsten electrode: pure tungsten electrode is the cheapest among all electrodes and is suitable for magnesium aluminum and its alloy and welding under ac condition.
2) Yttrium tungsten electrode: when welding, the arc beam is long and thin, the degree of compression is large, especially under the condition of large current, the dissolution depth is the largest, which is mainly used in military industry and aerospace industry.
3) Composite electrode: two or more rare earth oxides are added to the tungsten, and the additives complement each other to make the welding performance more outstanding.
4) Cerium tungsten electrode: the cerium tungsten electrode has no radioactive pollution and belongs to the green environmental protection products. It can easily start an arc with only a small current, and the dimensional arc current is also small. Under the condition of low dc current, cerium and tungsten electrodes are very popular, especially for welding pipes and small parts, intermittent welding and specific number of welding advantages.
5) Thorium-tungsten electrode: thorium-tungsten electrode is the most widely used tungsten electrode in the United States and some other countries. However, the presence of slight radioactive contamination limits its use in some areas. Thorium-tungsten electrodes are commonly used for dc welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy and titanium.
6) Lanthanum tungsten electrode: lanthanum tungsten electrode has excellent welding performance, and the conductivity is closest to 2% thorium tungsten electrode, and there is no radioactive toxicity, welder does not need to change any operating procedures can easily and quickly replace thorium tungsten electrode with this electrode. As a result, lanthanum tungsten electrodes have become the most popular 2 percent replacement for thorium tungsten electrodes in Europe and Japan. Lanthanum tungsten electrode is mainly used for direct injection welding. It also performs well in ac welding.
7) Zirconium tungsten electrode: it performs well in ac condition, when welding, its end can keep the ball and the arc is more stable than the pure tungsten electrode, especially in the case of high load, its superior performance is irreplaceable by other electrodes. Zirconium tungsten electrode also has good corrosion resistance. Zirconium tungsten electrodes are used for ac welding of magnesium aluminum and its alloys.
